Solo Pieces - Live Brass Masterclass

I'd love to hear those pieces performed during the class. Especially if that involves experimenting with dynamics and mutes.

 

Yup, I think this is a great idea to be able to listen to each instrument individually, don't forget the Tuba.
The players could maybe even share their thoughts on how the timber of their instrument changes when played in their different ranges.

 

For those of us who are attending live and in person, are you going to email out name of venue, address, parking, arrival time, etc?

 

Mike -- not sure if it's easy to do this, but I'd love to (in the future) see the pieces you've uploaded here for transcription be Indiegogo updates, if possible (assuming you do something similar for other sections). I hadn't been checking this forum and missed out on a number of them, which I likely won't have time to transcribe in time. I.e. an "I've uploaded some pieces we'll be covering" update.

 

I've just not had much time to be perusing (spending the little free time I have on, you guessed it, transcription!), and while it's relatively obviously in this particular subforum, it would just be easier to keep up to speed with in a dedicated class forum, or via an update, etc. Maybe a subforum in the masterclasses section, like with your other classes?

 

You could always (well..... depending on deadline.....if not for the workshop your own sake) have very lite accompaniment background.

Pads, or even a single note pedal. I'm thinking - gesture wise only- like Quiet City by Copland.

Or this Schubert piece in which the background strings just are filler. It would put it into a ensemble context at least.
